Manchester United ended their pre-season tour in the United States with a 2-1 win over Real Madrid.

Manchester United will be back in England’s northern city on Thursday following their pre-season tour. Thereon, the Red Devils will start preparation for the Premier League campaign of 2018/19. Jose Mourinho concluded his five game trip to the United States with a 2-1 win over former recruits Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho had a frustrating time in North America and let the fire out after his side’s 4-1 loss against Liverpool last week. He claimed that the board had not supported in signing new players and also was annoyed by the lack of quality players available to him. Most of the Manchester United stars are currently holidaying following their international ventures in Russia.

An important set of players was part of the final week of the World Cup which featured the third place play-off and final. England, Belgium and France players who are part of the United squad played in their nation’s fixtures and enjoyed extended days off.

The Portuguese boss has now confirmed that Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Phil Jones will return to training three days earlier than expected by cutting short their vacations.

“We will have [Victor] Lindelof who started training two days ago, plus Marcus Rashford, Jones and Lukaku because they gave to the group and to the team three days of their holidays so they are coming back three days early to try to be available for the team,” said Mourinho following the win against Real Madrid.

The Portuguese boss has been under immense pressure from the board as well as fans even before the start of the season to do well in the Champions League and Premier League as the two big trophies form an integral part of United’s project this season.

Jose Mourinho meanwhile has been guaranteed by the board that at least one signing out of his wishes will be made before August 9 when the transfer window closes. The former Chelsea boss is looking to bring in a centre back and right winger.
