RCB sell Quinton de Kock to MI

IPL’s first ever trade has gone through, with RCB releasing QDK and trading him to Mumbai Indians.

The move is a first in the history of the IPL, where such a trade has happened between two IPL franchises during the off season.

The trade rules state that teams can trade players from the end of the IPL season to one month before the auction. There will also be a second trade window, wherein, players can be traded from after the auction date to start of the IPL.

Thus, all teams had to submit their retention and release player list before 15th November, as the tentative dates provided for the auction this year is December 15th-20th.

However, ESPNCricinfo has reported that the auction is scheduled to be held on the 16th of December in Goa.

Before the auction is carried out, all the teams want to be sure of the country in which the IPL will be held, as the multiple reports have stated that the IPL could be shifted out of the country owing to general elections.

Now, in this QDK trade, MI have also released two players in order to facilitate this trade. MI have released Mustafizur Rehman(Rs 2.2 crore) and Akila Dananjaya(Rs 50 lakh). RCB had bought QDK for 2.8 crores in the auction.

Now, all teams will be allotted a purse of Rs 3 crore for the auction this year(the RS 10 lakh difference in the current trade will be adjusted in the auction purse for the next season).

Does this trade make sense to you?
