There is no hiding to the fact that Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore is among the three franchises who have played in the IPL since its inception but have never won a title.
The closest Bangalore came to winning the title was in 2009, 2011 and 2016 when they ended up losing the final match against Deccan Chargers and Chennai Super Kings respectively.
Since 2012, Royal Challengers reached the playoffs only twice (2015 and 2016). Despite consisting some of the best names in the format in their batting department, RCB not winning a single title is hard to understand.
Good morning, Challengers! ☀️ Here are some encouraging words from AB to get you through this Wednesday. As always, remember to stay home, stay safe and stay fit! 💪#PlayBold #StayHomeSaveLives pic.twitter.com/tn4Ipc2NJ0

Royal Challengers Bangalore sack Virat Kohli as captain
In a significant development, Royal Challengers have decided to end their tryst with captain Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper won’t be leading RCB in the upcoming season of the tournament and will only play as a specialist batsman.
After full-time captains in Rahul Dravid, Kevin Pietersen, Anil Kumble and Daniel Vettori over the years, Kohli was appointed to lead the franchise in 2013.
Although Kohli has been phenomenal as a batsman in all these years, him not being able to guide Royal Challengers to any title is supposed to be the main reason behind the franchise taking such a bold decision ahead of IPL 2020.
Neither anyone out of Royal Challengers nor Kohli has commented on the development till now. Having said that, the franchise is expected to issue a press release soon as conducting a press conference is improbable in these testing times of COVID-19 pandemic.
While RCB have not named Kohli’s successor till now, they are expected to pick one out of AB de Villiers and Aaron Finch to lead the team in IPL 2020.
Royal Challengers’ fans are expected to be in a state of surprise after reading this news and rightly so. If your gut suggests that the aforementioned news is too hard to believe, please follow your gut as this was published to engage in a round of April Fool’s Day with you.
