Player reportedly made a complaint against the signing of Rodrigo from Valencia.
Real Madrid are still recovering from the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. The Portuguese star left the club after nine years at Santiago Bernabeu, after winning all the major domestic and continental honours with the club. Real Madrid now face the humongous task of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Los Blancos are linked with many top European players throughout the summer transfer window. Real Madrid were linked with players like Neymar, Mbappe and Eden Hazard. However, it now seems like the Santiago Bernabeu club are set to begin their 2018-19 season with the current crop of players.
According to fresh Spanish reports, though, Real Madrid faced a rebellion from its own players while pulling off a transfer for a Spanish striker. Rodrigo, who currently plies his trade at Valencia, was reportedly offered a 50m euro deal from Real Madrid.
The Real Madrid players, however, made a complaint against the signing of the player, after which the club had to call off the pursuit for the player.
Rodrigo has had a decent season with Valencia, during which he scored 16 La Liga goals. His form also earned him a call-up for the Spanish national team for the World Cup.
The reason for player’s rebellion is yet unknown.
Real Madrid have so far made two major signings this summer. A move for Vinicius Junior was finalised earlier in the transfer window, as the Brazilian made his move to Real Madrid from Flamengo.
Earlier this month, Real Madrid signed Alvaro Odriozola from Real Sociedad.
