Real Madrid fans speak up about Ronaldo’s replacement

Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid earlier this month, after 9 glorious years at the club.

Real Madrid bid an emotional goodbye to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese’s departure to Juventus sent shockwaves across the footballing world. He closed the curtains on a highly successful career with the Whites.

In his nine years at the club, he scored a truckload of 450 goals and added a huge amount of silverware. A big trophy cabinet includes four Champions League trophies from the last five years.

There is quite a void to be filled at the Santiago Bernabeu in the upcoming season. Los Blancos have lost a talisman who would potentially guarantee fifty goals a season. They now have to come up with a replacement who can come close if not match his stats.

Real Madrid have been linked with record breaking moves for numerous players from different clubs. While rumours about Eden Hazard’s arrival in Madrid are strong, Harry Kane, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are those who are tipped to arrive. The latest addition to the list is Edinson Cavani.

As the transfer window comes one day closer to its shut down, the Real Madrid fans spoke about who would be an ideal replacement. The poll was conducted by Spanish newspaper Marca. Harry Kane topped the rankings with 26% of over 200,000 votes.

The Tottenham striker has won the Golden Boot for his form in front of goal in Russia. He has also won the award in Premier League. He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since the last few windows. He is a popular candidate among the Real Madrid faithful.

The options in the poll did not include PSG stars Mbappe and Neymar. Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi finished jointly second with 14% votes each while Robert Lewandowski and Mariano are wanted by 12% of the club’s supporters. 8% of Real Madrid fans want to see Alvaro Morata have a third stint with the club. A mere 2% wouldn’t mind seeing Roberto Firmino don the White kit.
