According to a report, Real Madrid players want Cristiano Ronaldo eliminated from the Champions League.

It’s quite natural, though, isn’t it?

Juventus faced a stunning 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the round-of-16 of the Champions League. The Italian champions face a herculean task to overturn the deficit in the second leg in Turin.

Cristiano Ronaldo stirred further controversy in the first leg as he made mocking gestures towards Atletico Madrid’s fans and journalists.

And now, it has been reported by Spanish media outlet AS that even Real Madrid players have turned against Ronaldo.

The report claims that the Real Madrid players don’t want Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus to proceed further in the tournament. They are well aware of how deadly Ronaldo is in the Champions League.

Besides, the Real Madrid camp also believes that it would be easier to tackle Atletico Madrid than Juventus, should the sides meet in the later stages of the tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo broke silence over his move to Juventus in an interview last year, where he stated that there were differences with Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez, which led to his departure.

Recently, former Real president Ramon Calderon stated that Ronaldo quit the club because he was angry with the club’s attempts to sign Neymar to replace him.

“Cristiano asked for a raise after winning the Champions League,” he told Radio Villa Trinidad.

“And Florentino denied it. Cristiano also got angry because he heard that Madrid would be willing to pay a lot of money for Neymar.

“Florentino told him that if he brought in a cheque for 100 million euros he would let him go and that’s how it was.”

What next?

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to action tomorrow as the side faces Bologna in Serie A. The Portuguese forward is currently the top goalscorer in the league with 19 goals and will aim to add to the record when he takes the field tomorrow.
