Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino was no way near the Premier League top earners, but it’s his bonuses are staggering.
Liverpool and Brazil forward Roberto Firmino was earning 68,085 pounds per week which are no way near some of the top players’ salary in the Premier League. However, it is highly possible that Liverpool’s number 9 would earn more bonuses than his weekly wages.
He put pen to paper after the World Cup this summer and extended his contract with Liverpool up to 2023. He is currently earning 180,000 pounds per week.
His old contract saw him bag 25,000 pounds for each of his first five goals, 45,000 pounds between six and ten, 65,000 pounds between eleven and fifteen, and 85,000 pounds if he tallies more than 16 goals in one season.
If his bonuses remain unaltered, that means he would have earned an incredible 135,000 pounds against Arsenal on Saturday night following his hattrick at Anfield in the Premier League.
The Reds got lucky during their first goal, but the brilliant skill to score the second one by going past four players and calmly slot in past Bernd Lendo, and the third one was a cooly taken penalty to put smiles on the Kopites face.
With these goals, Firmino is the highest scoring Brazilian in the League having found the back of the net on 43 occasions.
After the game, Jurgen Klopp revealed that he almost cried because Mohamed Salah let Roberto Firmino take the penalty in the second half.
“We knew in the second half that the game wasn’t finished, so we wanted to control it. Mo Salah gave the penalty to Bobby [Firmino] and I almost cried because we all know how much Mo wants to score goals. It was really nice.”
The Egyptian handed over the ball when Liverpool had an opportunity to go three goals ahead moments before the halftime, but the Liverpool forward rejected it.
However, he was forced by Salah to take the second one. Besides the German revealed that he did not want Firmino to take the penalties as he struggled to convert it during the training sessions.
The 27-year-old has often been criticised for his substandard performances and going with a patch when he struggled to find the back of the net. However, it is clearly visible that the Brazilian has dropped deep into the midfield this campaign, with Mohamed Salah playing as a striker.
Following a tough start to his new role, he has put in convincing performances over the last month or so. Having made 27 appearances this term, he has scored 9 times and has found his teammates on four occasions.
