Rohit Sharma's comments on Jadeja's comeback

Rohit Sharma’s comments on Jadeja’s comeback: Captain Rohit Sharma was wax lyrical about Ravindra Jadeja.

During the first match of the Super Four of the ongoing Asia Cup between India and Bangladesh at Dubai, India registered another clinical victory as they beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets.

After putting Bangladesh in to bat, India bundled them out for 173 in 49.1 overs. As was the case against Pakistan, India’s new-ball bowlers made early inroads into the Bangladeshi batting line-up.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was playing an ODI after more than a year, ended up being the pick of Indian bowlers, registering bowling figures of 10-0-29-4. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who came in to bat at No. 9 for Bangladesh, top-scored for his team. He scored 42 (50) with the help of two fours and two sixes.

Chasing a mediocre target, Indian openers in Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan made a solid start. Dhawan, particularly, took on the opposition bowlers. On the other hand, Sharma was cautious at the start.

Once Dhawan (40) got out in the 15th over, Sharma took the onus onto him and ended up top-scoring for India. He scored 83* (104) with the help of five fours and three sixes. During the post-match presentation, Sharma declared this victory as another clinical performance by the team.

“We bowled very well and we always knew it was going to be better batting under the lights. Very good from everyone. It was important on a pitch like that to rotate the bowlers and now allow the batsmen to settle. We wanted to rotate the bowlers in shorter spells. It was a challenge for us, but I think they responded well. We always knew if we stuck to tight lines, the wickets would come”, Sharma said about his bowlers.

He was also vocal about Man-of-the-Match Jadeja and praised him for the way he bowled even after such a lay-off. “Jadeja, playing an ODI after a long time, to come out and bowl like that was a great effort from him. Great effort from everyone, I don’t want to single out anyone. Once you’re in, you got to make sure you bat as long and as deep as possible. We got to go back and recover. Tomorrow is a day off. Hope to repeat the same performance against Pakistan”, he added.

The Indian team’s win was also lauded on social media platform Twitter. Watch some of the tweets:
