It’s been an incredible year for Rohit Sharma, as ‘the Hitman’ had admitted that 2017 has been the greatest year of his professional career up till now.

Rohit Sharma’s journey from a prodigious talent to one of the best limited overs batsmen in the world has been fascinating to watch.

Rohit burst on to the scene at the 2007 World T20, where in he played a couple of crucial innings that went under the radar.

The Mumbai youngster really broke out in 2008, where he played a beautiful innings and provided great support to Sachin Tendulkar in the CB series final.

The on watching Aussie commentators were visibly impressed as the cricketing world felt that they had seen the birth of a new star.

Since then the expectations from Rohit have been sky high, and perhaps it played on his mind far too much.

The classy batsman did not morph into the player that everyone expected him to be, as Rohit struggled for any sort of consistency.

But all that changed in 2013, when Rohit starred against Australia in a high scoring ODI series in India.

That series is also remembered for Rohit’s double century in the deciding match. The Hitman scored a sensational 209 in Bangalore as Rohit smashed the Aussies all over the Chinnaswamy stadium.

Since then Rohit has developed into a sensational player as the opening batsman can now be considered as one of the best limited overs batsman that the country has ever produced.

His 208 against Sri Lanka in Mohali was his third ODI century, taking him into uncharted territory for batsmen in ODIs.

The last series against Sri Lanka will memorable for Rohit as this was first series win as the skipper of his country.

Standing in for Kohli, Rohit performed admirably as he led his troops well both on and off the pitch.

Rohit sent a heartfelt message on Twitter, as he spoke about his pride at leading his country for the first time in his career.
