Tributes to Emiliano Sala: The Dorsey Police recovered the body in the early hours of Friday and confirmed the death of Emiliano Sala.

The body recovered from the wreckage of the plane is that of Emiliano Sala, Dorsey Police have confirmed on Friday.

The aircraft lost signal on January 21 and a rescue and recovery operation began immediately.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) confirmed that the aircraft carrying the footballer and the pilot David Ibbotson was found underwater. A body was also discovered on the wreckage of the aircraft.

Earlier today, the Dorsey Police recovered the body and confirmed its identification.

The police issued the following statement:

“The body brought to Portland Port today, Thursday 7 February 2019, has been formally identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala.

“The families of Mr Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson have been updated with this news and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.”

Following the announcement, the football fraternity on Twitter paid tribute to Emiliano Sala.
