Virat Kohli’s gritty and masterful innings at Edgbaston has caught the imagination of the world.
People from the cricketing fraternity lined up to congratulate the Indian captain, as he showed the world why he is considering as one of the greatest batsmen of all time.
But the best of the wishes, and probably the most important one for Virat Kohli, came from his idol, Sachin Tendulkar.
“A very important knock by Virat Kohli. Lovely way to set up the Test series. Congrats on your Test hundred.” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

Virat Kohli has set up the test match wonderfully well for India, pacing his innings to perfection. He had to play a large part of his innings with the tail enders and had to face Anderson at his absolute best.
But somehow Kohli managed, thanks to his improved technique, his focus and a little bit of luck.
India finished their innings 13 runs short of that England total and had given themselves a brilliant chance of winning the test match.
With close to 13 minutes of play remaining, Kohli turned to Ashwin, especially as two left handers walked out to the middle.
And Ashwin, the wiley off spinner that he is, got rid of Cook in the exact same way that he did in the first innings.
We have an absolutely fascinating day of Test cricket in front of us tomorrow. From an Indian point of view, let’s hope they knock these remaining 9 wickets for less than 150 runs.
