Sadio Mane goal disallowed by VAR in surprising manner against Watford

Sadio Mane goal disallowed by VAR in yet another surprising manner as the Reds win against 20th placed Watford at the Anfield stadium.

The video assistant referee once again raised eyebrows as Sadio Mane’s goal was ruled offside for just keeping his hip ahead of the opposition players.

Sadio Mane thought he’d doubled Liverpool’s advantage with a fine header from an Xherdan Shaqiri cross – but referee Andre Marriner disallowed the goal for offside following a VAR review.

Initially, in the lines drawn on the screen, Mane appeared to be in the appropriate position. But the goal was apparently ruled out because Mane’s hip was about a millimetre offside.

This incident has sparked criticism once again against the technology on social media, and it is not only Liverpool fans who have been speaking out but also fans from other clubs and journalists.

VAR has already been around massive controversy ever since it made its debut in the Premier League. Many managers and players have spoken against its faulty implementation and are rooting for improvements.

Thus, the Premier League needs to find solutions for its inaccuracies. Meanwhile, Liverpool got the three points as a brace by Mohamed Salah made them win the game.

Despite it, Liverpool had a poor game but the 20th placed Watford was even worse as they made a mockery out of themselves by missing easy chances and also conceding a back-heel goal by Salah.

With this Liverpool remains at the top of the league with 49 points on the table. Now, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be heading for the club world cup in Qatar.

There next Premier League game against West ham has been postponed and would be straight playing against Leicester City upon their arrival, which has been now hyped with the Foxes’ current form.
