Sindhu cruises into the quarters

More heartening news for Indian badminton fans! PV Sindhu is through to the quarterfinal stage after coming through in an easy win against Indonesia’s Yulia Yosephin. After this Sindhu triumph, she is on her way to a semi-final showdown with compatriot Saina Nehwal.

PV Sindhu continued her dominance in the women’s badminton circuit. She hardly broke a sweat by extending her lead in the first set and winning it 21-13. Looking down and out, the Indonesian bounced back and gave Sindhu a tough fight in the second set. Tied 16-16, Sindhu notched up 5 successive points to register a good victory.

Possible date with Saina Nehwal

In another interesting development, Sindhu is set to clash with London bronze medalist Saina Nehwal in the semifinal stage. Obviously, this is if both of the shuttlers win their respective quarter-finals.

In the upcoming round, PV Sindhu is set to clash with Hsu Ya Ching of Chinese Taipei. She will pose a stiff challenge to the Indian shuttler after upsetting seventh seed Sing Ji Hyun of Korea in the first round.

Carolina Marin sounds an ominous warning

On the other hand, arch nemesis and world number 1 Carolina Marin cruised past the local favourite Yip Pui Yin. She overcame an initial deficit to win 21-18,21-16. Moreover, she also overcame the partisan crowd who gave Yin overwhelming support.

She seems confident and is well poised to achieve her goal of ending 2016 with the Dubai World Superseries Final. This would also cap off a wonderful year for the Spaniard, a year in which she secured her second European Championship title and her Olympic triumph.

Sindhu triumph

“When you control yourself and when you do what you know on the court, you can beat anyone,” the current champ quipped. The Sportsrush wishes the terrific Indian duo to step up and keep Marin waiting for her first superseries trophy for 2016.
