Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has disclosed the reason behind Dhoni’s slow batting in the 2nd England ODI when everyone else expected him to go all guns blazing.

India were in a tough situation when MS Dhoni entered at the Lord’s. The team was chasing a 300 + total and the pitch was gradually slowing up. It would not be easy for him to score freely. India had lost the wickets of openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma early.
This was followed by the wickets of Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina as India were left tottering. However, Dhoni did not have a good day at office on Saturday as the mammoth total of 323 proved to be a bit too much.
After Dhoni played a very slow knock, the crowd started booing him. Ultimately, he was caught at midwicket attempting to clear the ropes.
Sanjay Bangar has now said at the pre-match press conference that Dhoni ran out of partners. He said, “Sanjay Bangar in PC: Dhoni’s plan at Lord’s was to build partnerships with Raina/Pandya till 40th over & attack after that. But they got out. He tried building a partnership with tailenders but that didnt work. We didnt have enough batting in the end to force a win.”
