Sarfaraz Ahmed issues severe warning to his fellow teammates after Pakistan’s loss against India at the Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday

Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has reportedly issued a severe warning to his fellow Pakistani teammates post their humiliating 89-run loss (DLS Method) against arch-rivals India at the Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday. The wicket-keeper batsman has warned the players to pull up their socks, else face the public animosity back home.

Sarfaraz Ahmed and experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik, were the two players who faced the maximum public irk and criticism after the loss on Sunday. Former Pakistan players like Shoaib Akhtar came down heavily on Sarfaraz post the loss, and even termed him a ‘brainless captain’ in his YouTube channel.

Other former players like Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja were unimpressed seeing the poor display of all-round cricket by Pakistan. Akram has even questioned the Pakistan Cricket Management, which he believes is in a complete state of disarray, as it is being run by a ‘local journalist’.

Being at the receiving end of all the wrath, Sarfaraz has now perhaps had enough.

What did Sarfaraz say?

According to Pakistani media outlet thenews.com.pk, the public outrage after the aforementioned loss prompted Sarfaraz to issue a severe warning to his fellow teammates, asking them to lift their game or be ready to face the wrath of the public if the below-par performances continue.

As per the media outlet, Sarfaraz got very emotional after the loss, and has asked his teammates to pull up their socks as he won’t be ‘the only one going back home’, if they crash out of the World Cup.

If anyone thinks that I will go home, then it is their idiocy. If God forbid something unfortunate happens, then I won’t be the only one going back home, Sarfaraz said.

“Let go the Past”- Sarfaraz

Sarfaraz has also advised his mates to forget the past and the previous losses in the ongoing World Cup, and focus on the remaining four matches.

“Forget the bad performances and uplift the team for the remaining four matches”, Sarfaraz said. Pakistan are currently reeling at the 9th spot in the points table, as they have only won one match against England in the ongoing World Cup off five.

It is also learnt that, during the course of Sarfaraz’s fierce speech none of the senior players viz. Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez came up with any comments or advises for the team.
