Seth Rollins: The Architect explains why it is so easy to hate WWE

Seth Rollins: The Architect explains why it is so easy to hate WWE as he compares the billion-dollar company to the New York Yankees.

Seth Rollins has had a roller coaster 2019. The Architect started the year as the most over baby face by winning the Royal Rumble for the first time in his career. He was talented and easy to cheer, what could go wrong?

Well a few things in fact. Some in his hands, some… not so much. Rollins’ push towards Wrestlemania coincided with Kofi Kingston’s rise as a main eventer. This meant that his story took a backstage to the Dreadlocked Dynamo’s.

All’s well that ends well though and Rollins shot himself back as the endearing superstar we all know him for by beating Brock Lesnar and bringing the Universal Championship back to the boys.

Unfortunately for him, his reign as the top champion coincided with WWE’s record ratings drop. This must have surely affected the champ as he took it upon himself to wage a war against all of the WWE’s critics; Both the media and fans alike.

This WWE white knighting led to some questionable and cringeworthy comments from Rollins over Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay; one he admittedly regrets, The Ospreay one at least.

Rollins had apologized for his comments and promised that he wouldn’t indulge in such garbage trivialities anymore. Looks like that didn’t last long.

Speaking with Yahoo Sports, the former Universal champion attempted to explain why the WWE was easy to hate.

Rollins said:

“We’re the New York Yankees. It’s easy to hate the New England Patriots. We’re those teams, we’re the dynasty. It’s easy to hate us, but we’re still the most popular company in the world at what we do. We’re so far beyond being a wrestling company that it’s very easy to point the finger and hate on us. That’s the cool thing to do, it makes perfect sense to me, it’s how it’s always been in sports and entertainment, you always hate the big guy. It’s fine, I’m not upset about it at all.

I just want people to understand and appreciate the things we go through and the fact that we’re always trying to do our best. Nobody is taking it easy; nobody is just getting by. Everybody from top to bottom, every department in the entire company is putting in as much work as they possibly can to make this the best.”

Someone in the back has surely got to explain Seth Rollins that the hate and flak the company receives is not targeted towards the wrestlers. Well, except if you’re Shane McMahon or Baron Corbin. The anger stems from the mismanagement of the wrestlers and the company in general.

For a company that prides itself as being the biggest in the industry, it has to start performing like one. Improve the story lines and the standard of wrestling by not limiting them to what they can or cannot do. Most importantly, use the talent you have instead of hoarding them like some collector’s item. There’s only so much Shane McMahon and Baron Corbin even the staunchest of WWE fan can take week after week.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
