Siraj on Dhoni's advice

Siraj on Dhoni’s advice: Mohammad Siraj discloses how suggestions from Dhoni have had a major impact on his performance.

Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni might not be having the best of times with the bat in hand. As a result, a large amount of criticism has also come in his way in the recent times.

However, with Dhoni’s current teammates continuously throwing accolades at him, one gets to know about the fact that his value in the team is much more than runs with the bat.

Mohammad Siraj, who received his maiden Test call-up this Saturday for the series against West Indies, has now spoken in favor of Dhoni, saying that suggestions from the 37-year old have worked wonders for him. Siraj has joined the list of players who hace credited Dhoni for their success. Among the other players are Virat KohliKedar JadhavRishabh Pant and Siddarth Kaul.

In an interview with the Times of India, Siraj was overjoyed at his Test selection, stating that it was a dream come true moment for him. “It is a dream come true for me. I wanted to represent my country in Tests and knew I will be able to impress the selectors someday. I am so happy. I have done well for India A recently and had an idea about my selection in the Test team”, Siraj was quoted.

Speaking about Dhoni, Siraj said, “Batsmen ke footwork ko dhyaan se dekh aur fir line aur length change kario. (Watch the batsman’s footwork closely and then change the line and length accordingly). His pep talk has helped me take my game to another level. I am really excited to wear the white Indian jersey.”

With India opting for two rookie fast bowlers in their pace attack, Siraj might well be picked in the team if the management aims at taking the field with three specialist fast bowlers.

Siraj’s inclusion in the team called for numerous positive reactions on social media platform Twitter. Below are some of them:
