Manchester United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named two players who can turn it around for the side against Barcelona.
Manchester United will play against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday night.
The side will aim for a similar comeback to the one against Paris Saint Germain early in the season, where Manchester United overturned a two-goal deficit to beat the French side in the second leg.
Solskjaer interacted with the media for the press conference ahead of the game against Barcelona, and talked about Manchester United’s chances for the game.
While he was upbeat about the side, he also named two players who could be vital for the side as they aim to bring their season back on track after a fairly disappointing last few weeks.
Solskjaer on Barcelona:
The Norwegian manager stated that Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard need to step up against Barcelona for the side to have a chance in the game.
Both the players have been below-par in their last few games.
“[They are] very important,” Solskjaer said.
“We need to score goals, if it is any of them we need big performances. We need them, we have to defend well but we need that little bit of extra to score.”
While Solskjaer failed to confirm if the duo will start in the game, he insisted that their performance was disappointing in the first leg.
“Whoever starts tomorrow we need and need to see some good play. We weren’t good enough against them at home,” the manager said.
Solskjaer also talked about Alexis Sanchez, who returned from an injury and has been included in the squad to face his former side.
“Of course for Alexis [it’s a big game] who has been here and played here,” the manager said.
“It is a big night. When he is on the pitch he wants to prove a point for us as well. Let’s hope he can end the season great for us. We are playing games that United are used to. We are still challenge for a semi-final. let’s hope Alexis when he is on the pitch he can be happy with his performance.”
