Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joked that he would evict Virgil van Dijk from his house, but it could soon become reality.

Solskjaer has been brilliant for Manchester United so far. The caretaker manager is yet to lose a Premier League game, and led a dramatic turnaround in the round-of-16 of the Champions League.

The side lost 2-0 in the first leg against PSG, but secured a dramatic 3-1 win at Parc des Princes, entering the quarterfinal.

It has now been speculated that the Norwegian is set to be named the permanent manager of Manchester United.

And it means that he would be looking for a permanent place to live in. Solskjaer currently stays at Lowry Hotel.

Solskjaer to evict Virgil van Dijk:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bought a property near Manchester during his playing days at the club.

He rented his home to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk when the Dutchman made a switch from Southampton to Liverpool last year.

Solskjaer arrived at Manchester United on a temporary basis in December when the club parted ways with Jose Mourinho. However, things have now changed quite a bit.

The Norwegian caretaker manager inspired Manchester United to amazing performances ever since his arrival at the club. The side is currently fourth in the Premier League table and eye a third-place finish after Tottenham dropped points against Southampton last week.

Solskjaer joked about kicking out Virgil van Dijk from his home ahead of the game against Arsenal. However, Mirror now reports that the Liverpool defender will have to find a new home, as it looks increasingly likely that Solskjaer will be handed a permanent job.

Mirror quotes a source which explained how van Dijk secured the property.

“The property is the one Ole and his family lived in since his time at United and when he moved away it was eventually put up for sale.

“But when no takers came it was offered for rent – and when van Dijk signed for Liverpool he came to see it and loved it.

“Ole probably never thought he would be coming back to Manchester but now he is it really is ironic he can’t move back into his old place which he still owns.”

What next?

Manchester United face a huge task later tonight as they face Arsenal. A win would be a huge boost to the side’s chances for top-four, and Solskjaer’s claim for a permanent job.
