Sourav Ganguly slams Steve Waugh

Sourav Ganguly slams Steve Waugh: Former Indian captain took a dig at his former counterpart’s Instagram post.

With every passing loss at the highest level, the amount of criticism being showered on the Australian cricket team keeps n increasing. Given the year that they’ve had, both at home and overseas, the same happening was inevitable.

While Cricket Australia would be finding solutions for the same, the biggest of them all which has been put on display is the absence of banned players in Steven Smith and David Warner.

Talking about the current Test series, there is a certain amount of truth in the fact that Australia have struggled to pick their best possible XI. Perhaps, it is because of this that even the Australian selectors have received plentiful criticism.

Among one of the suggestions regarding the combination came from former Australia captain Steve Waugh. The 53-year old took to his Instagram account to select his playing XI from the Australian squad selected for the Sydney Test.

Waugh’s surprising combination saw Shaun Marsh opening the batting in place of Aaron Finch, who didn’t find a place in the playing XI. Waugh included both the all-rounder in Mitchell Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne. The inclusion of Mitchell Marsh must have left many of the Australian fans unhappy.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly didn’t seem to happy with one of Australia’s greatest captains sharing his advice via an Instagram post. “Australian cricket selection at its lowest ever .. greats have to put teams in their Instagram posts to give direction ….,” read Ganguly’s tweet.

Ganguly was not the only one to criticize the Australian team. Former India opening batsman Aakash Chopra also chipped in with his opinion.
