SRH vs MI Man of the Match

SRH vs MI Man of the Match: Mumbai Indians fast bowler was declared the Man of the Match for his sensational bowling spell.

During the 19th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 40 runs to register third IPL 2019 victory.

After posting a below par 136/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs, the odds were in the favour of the hosts. While not many expected MI to sneak past a victory, the visitors ended up putting on display a stellar performance to restrict the in-form Sunrisers under 100.

In a bid to replace veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga, Mumbai Indians had handed a debut to 22-year old Alzarri Joseph. Originally not part of MI’s squad, Joseph was roped in as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne.

Joseph proved his worth from the word go after he dismissed SRH opening batsman David Warner (15) on the first ball he bowled. Registering bowling figures of 3.4-1-12-6, Joseph ended up picking the best-ever IPL figures. Among his other wickets included Vijay Shankar (5), Deepak Hooda (20), Rashid Khan (0), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2) and Siddarth Kaul (0).

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Joseph claimed this to be a “dream start”. Laying emphasis on keeping things simple and backing himself, Joseph opened up on the overall effort from Mumbai Indians.

“It’s a dream start, can’t get better than this. I just wanted to bowl to the plans. When they said I was playing, I decided to keep it simple and back myself.

“When I got my first wicket, I had a muted celebration since I was focused on the game that we had to win. The boys are really playing well, lot of hard work, so all we need to do is go to the park and show them what we can do,” Joseph was quoted as saying.
