Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has lashed out at the national team selectors, as he does not understand some of the selections that have taken place.

Gavaskar has gone even as far as saying that players with different hairstyles and body tattoos are being preferred to the ones with talent.

“The way the selections have gone for this series, it looks like all the nice guys are being left out and they are missing out on fattening their individual career aggregates with bat or ball.”

“Maybe they should start getting different hair styles and some body art done too to get picked in the team.”

“It is understandable to keep the faith in a player but not at the expense of an in-form batsman who has done nothing wrong to be sitting out,” he added.

Many people realize that Gavaskar was slyly supporting Rahane’s case to be picked in the ODI team. The Mumbai batsman had a wonderful series against West Indies, but was surprisingly not used in the series against Sri Lanka.

KL Rahul was preferred to Rahane, something that Gavaskar was not too happy about. The Karnataka batsman did not grab hold of his chance though, leading to several question marks over his place in the ODI team.

Rahane’s possible return to the ODI side could be one of the biggest decisions that Kohli and the team management need to take in the next year.

The sooner they decide on a fixed team, the better will be their chances of winning the World Cup come 2019.
