The sport of cricket is all set to welcome yet another format comprising of high-profile names in the Ultimate Kricket Challenge. Scheduled to begin in Dubai from tomorrow (December 24), UKC 2020 will witness as many as six players battling it out against each other in a whole new format.

The likes of England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan, West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, veteran West Indies batsman Chris Gayle, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and former England captain Kevin Pietersen will redefine a team sport by playing in an one-on-one format.

As of now, you at least know that there are other changes to the sport in the Ultimate Kricket Challenge than just the spelling of the sport. Below are the intriguing rules of the format:

Ultimate Kricket Challenge 2020 Rules

One-on-one match-ups have intrigued cricket fans across the globe. Shortening the game further, the 30-ball tournament will consist 4 innings of 15-balls each in every match.

A UKC Contender, also termed Gladiator, can bowl a minimum of 8 balls per innings, while a sub player – an ‘Ace’ – can bowl a maximum of 7 balls per innings. The contender with more runs at the end of each match will be the winner, and 2 points will be awarded for each win in the league stage.

Each player, while bowling, will be assisted by one fielder and one wicket-keeper inside the dome. A Contender, while batting, can gain run(s) only after they complete a physical run. If a batter, who hits the Bullseye (behind the bowler) scores 12 runs, gains an extra ball to play. Bullseye on the square of wickets will get the batter 4 runs and every time a batter gets out; 5 runs will be deducted from the total.

Scoring is divided in to 6 scoring zones:

1) Zone A – 1 run

2) Zone B- 1 run

3) Zone C – 2 runs

4) Zone D – 3 runs

5) Zone E – with a bounce 4 runs

6) Zone E – Direct 6 runs

What followed for an 8-year-old was an instant adulation for both Ganguly and the sport. The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
