United fans were treated with the assured presence of Michael Carrick in midfield. The veteran held his own, allowing Pogba and Fellaini to play further forward.

As a result Pogba covered the entire ground, while the Belgian was often found in advanced positions. With Ander Herrerra set to return from suspension, 4-3-3 seems to be the way forward.
