Scorchers, who have a better head-to-head record against Sixers, had won by seven wickets the last time both these teams played against each other.

After Perth captain Ashton Turner won the match and elected to field in the match played earlier this year, the visitors scored 177/5 on the back of an all-round batting effort. Andrew Tye (4-0-33-2) played a vital role in preventing Sixers from posting a match-winning total.

In the second innings, the hosts thrived on the back of a match-winning 98-run stand for the third wicket between opening batsman Cameron Bancroft (87 not out) and Turner (60) as they sealed the chase in the penultimate over.
