Tanguy Ndombele: Tottenham Hotspur to complete second signing of summer transfer window

Tanguy Ndombele is set to complete his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur from Lyon.

Tanguy Ndombele is set to complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur from Lyon. The Champions League runners-up have shattered their club transfer record worth £65 million to land him.

The 22-year-old was due to complete his medical at London and there is no hindrance in that part, as per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed the transfer.

The French International made 42 appearances for the club last campaign – playing a huge part in Lille’s Ligue 1 and Champions League tournaments. He is a perfect box-to-box midfielder, who has an abundance of energy to work at both sides of the pitch.

English publication Guardian confirmed about the late interest from Manchester United, but Ndombele had already set his heart on a move to Manchester United. Pochettino has convinced him that the next step of his career would be best served at Spurs and Ndombele was impressed when shown around the training ground.

Spurs see him as an ideal candidate to Moussa Dembele, who left the English side in January to the Chinese Super League. Even though Ndombele and Dembele share some traits, the former has the nimble feet and has the breakneck pace to run past opponents for fun.

Roma are considering a move for the Spurs centre-half Toby Alderweireld, and the idea has been floated that the Italian club’s midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo could be part of a deal. That would involve Spurs paying a surplus because Alderweireld is available for £25m this month under a clause in his contract and Zaniolo, a 20-year-old prospect, is rated in the £40m bracket

Spurs already announced the capture of Jack Clarke from Leeds United, but the youngster will be loaned back to his former side for a year instantly. Tanguy Ndombele will be the second signing of the summer transfer window.
