Aryna Sabalenka started the 2024 season with a bang by winning the Australian Open. She then hit a rough patch, failing to win a title in the next seven months of the season. However, the Belarusian flipped the switch at the North American Swing. Over the past few months, she has displayed impressive performances, regaining the #1 spot in the process.
No player has been as spectacular as Sabalenka since mid-August. She won the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open, and the Wuhan Open. Winning two WTA 1000 events and a Grand Slam added a huge number of points to her kitty. Additionally, Iga Swiatek has been forced to miss the Asian Swing due to injuries. As a result of the two, Sabalenka has reclaimed the throne from her Polish archnemesis.
The WTA broke this news on their social media. The organization added a screenshot of her tweet and a clip of her dance in the background.

Irrespective of what naysayers claim, Sabalenka has worked hard in the past few months. It’s impressive how quickly she achieved the goal she mentioned in September.
Sabalenka manifested reaching the #1 rank
Aryna Sabalenka had a dream run at Flushing Meadows earlier in September. She dropped merely one set en route to winning the third major of her career. At one point in the tournament, the Minsk native also spoke about her goal of being the #1 player in the world.
“Yeah, hopefully one day I’ll see myself on the top of the ranking,” Sabalenka said.
It is a spectacular feat to accumulate 4,000 points in nine weeks. However, this doesn’t guarantee Sabalenka to finish the year as the World No.1, as there is still one important tournament to play.
Swiatek and Sabalenka will fight hard to win the WTA Finals 2024 starting next month. Besides the opportunity to boost their career earnings by millions of dollars, the tournament winner will also receive 1,500 points. This ensures they finish the year ranked #1.
