Stefanos Tsitsipas Snubs 23-Time Major Winner Novak Djokovic for 'Perfect Player'

Stefanos Tsitsipas has always been the one to give time to his fans. The Greek star recently did an AMA on Reddit and offered a chance to the fans to ask him some questions. As expected, the fan questions were in large number and Tsitsipas answered as many as he could. One answer that everyone was talking about how Tsitsipas chose Carlos Alcaraz as the most complete player on tour, over Novak Djokovic.

The Greek admitted that he thinks Alcaraz is the most complete player on tour right now and the answer should not come as a surprise given the Spaniard’s incredible rise. Tsitsipas also answered other interesting questions in this AMA organized by US Open.

Tsitsipas picks Alcaraz as the most complete player

Stefanos Tsitsipas is preparing himself for the US Open and one such pre tournament event for the fans’ was the Question and Answer session with the Greek. Questions flooded in for the world number 7 and he was happy enough to answer them. Tsitsipas is known for his intellectual posts and quotes on social media and it was a great opportunity for the fans to know their favorite superstar move.

One such question was, who according to Tsitsipas is the most complete player on tour and the Greek went with Carlos Alcaraz. A few tennis fans were surprised with his choice as they expected him to pick the 23 time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic instead.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has had few successful matches against Djokovic and has managed to beat him a couple of times. The Greek has so far failed to beat Alcaraz in their five meetings and holds a 5-0 head-to-head record against the world number 1. This could be potentially be the reason why Tsitsipas thinks Alcaraz is the most complete player on tour.

Carlos Alcaraz has been in phenomenal form and it is hard to argue that there is any other player right now with a more complete game than the Spaniard.

Tsitsipas ‘enjoyed the struggle’ against Murray

Stefanos Tsitsipas won a classic against Andy Murray at Wimbledon 2023. Britain’s Andy Murray was the crowd favorite and Tsitsipas said it felt like an ‘away match’. The Greek ousted Murray to the disappointment of the crowd but the 25 year old said he enjoyed the struggle. He further mentioned that the ace on match point felt like an end to a mental and physical marathon.

The Greek also mentioned his game against Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open as the most physically drained he has ever been. Tsitsipas came back from 2 sets down against the great Spaniard and managed to beat him in five sets. Competing against Nadal for five sets is a scary thought for many top players and Tsitsipas has said that was his toughest match physically.
