Naturally, a team’s success depends on how these players gel and play together. Football is a team sport after all. However, each team boasts of players who tend to perform better than their teammates. Today we will look at the best players in the top 6 Premier league clubs so far.

For this list we will look at the teams that have generally done well consistently in the English top flight. This list though is completely opiniated and will definitely differ from the thoughts of many regarding the same. However, that is what the sport is about; drawing different conclusions from the same exact sample of evidence.

This is exactly why people support different teams and players isn’t it? Besides, the game would be a lot more boring if everyone had the same opinion on every matter. With that out of the way, let us now look at the best players in the top 6 Premier League clubs so far.

Arsenal- Aubameyang

Arsenal are undergoing a disappointing season at the moment. The club’s recruitment tactics in the summer led many to believe that a top 4 spot was but a guarantee. The signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille left many fans drooling at the sight of a dangerous front 3 including Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Some even went so far as to compare it to Liverpool’s front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. However, Lacazette’s injury has meant that the trio have very rarely played together. Pepe on the other hand as had flashes of brilliance but on the whole, has not been consistent enough.

Last season’s golden boot winner, Aubameyang though, has been the sole shining light in an Arsenal side that has flattered to deceive so far. Arsenal are currently 5th in the table. However, they trail leaders Liverpool by 14 points and are 6 points away from Everton who are sitting at 17th place.

If not for Aubameyang’s heroics, Arsenal could have very well had a much worse showing. The forward has already scored 8 goals in 11 matches for the Gunners. He has displayed brilliant finishing and a sharp presence of mind while launching counter attacks. Unfortunately, he has received little to no support from the rest of his team.

 Chelsea- Tammy Abraham

Chelsea were expected to falter this season. Top 6 was a pipe dream and the realistic goal seemed to avoid relegation. At the moment, Chelsea are at 4th position and are only 2 points behind second place Manchester City. If Pep Guardiola loses to Liverpool and Chelsea beat Crystal Palace in the weekend, the Blues could very well sit at 2nd place by the end of the week!

It is fair to say that the club has exceeded all expectations and a large credit for that goes to Tammy Abraham. Frank Lampard handed opportunities to several youngsters; many of whom vindicated their manager’s decision. However, Tammy Abraham has been heads and shoulders above his young teammates. The young English striker has notched up 9 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches for the Blues so far.

He has shown exceptional positional awareness with his finishing and looks good in the air too. Tammy Abraham has very quickly become Chelsea’s number one striker in just a few months! Older players such as Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi have been relegated to the bench due to his prolific form.

He has scored a goal once every 92 minutes in the Premier League so far! If he continues in the same vein, he could very well end up with the Golden boot this season. However, that is still a long way down the line. At the moment, Chelsea and Tammy Abraham will just hope to continue the good work.

Liverpool- Sadio Mane

Liverpool have easily been the best side in the Premier League this season. The fact that their worst performance still earned them a point says a lot about the side. Jurgen Klopp’s men are the only unbeaten side in the League so far.

Their standing at the top of the mountain has a lot to do with the contributions of the team rather than one individual. Almost every single player in the side has contributed immensely to the success of the team. Joel Matip, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all performed consistently.

However, if one were to choose one name from the bunch, it would have to be Mane. The Senegalese has scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists so far this season. However, his contribution to the side goes beyond the numbers.

Mane simply gives too much on the field, with or without the ball. At the moment, he is simply irreplaceable to the team. The forward wants to contribute and lays his life on the pitch and it shows in his performance. Mane is also a leader on the field. He may not wear the armband but his willingness to win is infectious and lifts the entire team.

Mane has been the fulcrum of a Liverpool side that just looks impossible to beat at the moment. He scores, he creates chances, makes tackles and wins duels. There is nothing he can’t do and that is why he is Liverpool’s best player of the season so far.

Tottenham- Harry Kane

From a team that has looked impossible to beat to a team that has made winning look impossible. Tottenham have had a largely disappointing season so far. The team has performed well below the standards they have set for themselves.

One of the very few clubs to break English football’s hierarchy and make the top 4 into a top 6, Tottenham look like they may not even qualify for Europe this season. The side has an abundance of top talent and yet, they are yet to win a match in their last 4 outings in the Premier League.

Tottenham have only managed to win 3 out of 11 matches in the league so far and are just 5 points away from the relegation zone. With the entire side collectively underperforming, it is extremely hard to choose one player whose performance stands above the others.

However, for the sake of this list, that honour goes to Harry Kane. The England skipper has already netted the ball 6 times in 10 matches and also has an assist to his name. In all competitions so far, he has 10 goals to his name in 13 matches so far. However, his performances have been far from extraordinary and does not look like a threat like he usually has in the past.

Regardless, Kane is still a class player like his teammates. A couple of wins is all it could take for Tottenham and Kane to regain their form. However, he is currently ill and the Lilywhites will have to do without their number one striker for a little while.

Manchester City- Kevin de Bruyne

Like Liverpool, Manchester City are blessed with a host of players who could be given the honour of the best player in the club. However, unlike Liverpool, where almost all their players play their part to the T, City players have arguably more freedom to show their creativity on the pitch.

This allows for multiple players to shine and become heroes on any given night. However, there in one player in the squad who has had nights like these more regularly than the others in the Premier League. That man is none other than Kevin de Bruyne.

The Belgian is on the cusp of becoming the fastest player in the Premier league to notch 10 assists in a Premier League season. The current record stands at 12 games, KDB has 9 in 10 games so far. This season, he has bent time and space to his will as he creates chances after chances.

He has arguably been the best player in the Premier League so far this season. His dribbling, concentration, through balls and ability to make key passes is beyond compare at the moment. He has been exceptional with set pieces and despite playing the same ball repeatedly, he still beats the defenders and finds gaps consistently.

If KDB remains injury free, he could very well have the best season of his life. There is no reason to think otherwise. The midfielder, arguably in his prime, is currently the most influential player in the Premier League and he keeps proving why with every passing match.

Manchester United- Scott McTominay

Many would consider Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s philosophy of youth a failure. However, the recent rise of a young player has proven that success can indeed be found in the theme. Scott McTominay could very well be the template United should follow if they want to continue advocating Soslkjaer’s ideology.

McTominay has the heart and desire to play for Manchester United and succeed. It was believed, and with good reason, that the only reason he was in the playing XI was because of how thin United’s squad was. However, he has quickly proven everyone wrong by being the club’s player of the month twice in a row.

Initially played as a defensive midfielder, McTominay has grown to be much more than that. He has proven to be an excellent dribbler of the ball and has shown great vision in opening up spaces in the final 3rd. Bar Harry Maguire, he has had more touches than any other United player and has made 17 touches in the opposition’s box, an impressive amount for a holding midfielder.

His passes have also been very accurate (80.47%) and attack oriented, with 30.3% going forward while a measly 8.6% going backwards. He has also won more duels (78) and made more recoveries (76) than any other United player this season. To put it simply, McTominay is playing the very same role United have wanted to see Pogba play since his arrival from Juventus.

Unfortunately, the young Scotsman has been let down by his teammates who have failed to come good at the industrious midfielder’s contribution. If only Manchester United could find a few more players with the willingness, ability and heart like him, they wouldn’t be floundering at 10th place with 13 points in the Premier League.
