“The more quality we have, the better”: Messi on Griezmann rumours

Lionel Messi has opened up on the possibility of Griezmann joining Barcelona in an interview.

Antoine Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona this summer. While the French forward has openly stated that he won’t say anything about his future before the world cup, the speculations have continued to grow. According to a recent report by ‘Sport’, FC Barcelona recently gave Griezmann an ultimatum to take decision on his future soon.

Now, Barca’s star forward Lionel Messi has spoken on the Griezmann rumours. Talking to Mundo Deportivo, Messi has seemingly provided his approval on the possibility of playing with Griezmann.

“I have always said it. It is easy to get along with great players and Griezmann is one of the best, he is going through an exceptional time in his career,” Messi said.

He even signified that they will enjoy playing together at Barca. The coach will then look at how he fits everyone in but he is obviously a great player and we would click together,” claimed Messi.

Griezmann’s arrival will add to more quality in the attack which already includes the likes of Messi, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

Whether Griezmann comes or not is up to the coach, it is still not 100 per cent, but obviously the more quality we have the better,” Messi added.

Earlier, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu had expressed his desire of signing Griezmann. “Out of respect for Atletico de Madrid, Griezmann has a contract in force and that is why I should not speak about it. But I would like (the player) to be here,” Bartomeu said.

Antoine Griezmann registered 19 La Liga goals this season. He also played a key role in the club’s Europa League triumph.

Griezmann has also been reportedly offered a huge contract by Atletico Madrid.
