Thomas Vermaelen injury update: Barcelona star centre-back adds to the worrying list of injuries for Barcelona.
Barcelona is going through a tough time at the moment. The Catalan giants have scored only 15 points from their 8 matches in the league, and are winless in their last four league games.
Ernesto Valverde’s side conceded a stunning defeat to the-then bottom placed Leganes last month, and were held to a draw to Valencia in the last match before the international break.
Barcelona slipped to second place in the league following the draw against Valencia, with Sevilla being the surprise table-toppers. Real Madrid also face a struggling season in the La Liga, as the side is goalless in their last three league matches.
The Catalonians are also facing a defensive crisis. Samuel Umtiti suffered a knee injury, and is reportedly out for the rest of the year. Gerard Pique started the season poorly and is still struggling with form, while new signing Clement Lenglet is yet to establish his place in the side. Now, Thomas Vermaelen is also facing an injury-scare.
Thomas Vermaelen injury update:
The Belgian central defender featured in Belgium’s match against Switzerland this week during the international break. However, Vermaelen was substituted off the pitch after merely 17 minutes in the game, with what looked like a hamstring injury.
Man, we’re left with only 2 CBs now.
Umtiti and Vermaelen injured.
One of Vidal, Rakitic, Busquets transforming into a CB till New Year.
Another option is to call up Cuenca from Barça B (he’s been quite off form lately tho).

The extent of the injury is not yet known, but it is reported that the injury is serious and the Belgian defender could be out for the rest of the month.
