Mauricio Pochettino has offered Harry Kane’s fitness update ahead of the Champions League final.
Mauricio Pochettino has said that it’s too early for him to decide about Harry Kane’s availability for the Champions League final. The English International has been sidelined with an ankle issue since first leg victory over Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals.
However, the 25-year-old has returned to training ahead of the Champions League final. The 25-year-old is Spurs’ top scorer with 22 games this season, despite featuring in just 32 games this term. It has been an injury-plagued season for the England Skipper, but he will be raring to go in the final.
He, alongside Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen, and Harry Winks are recovering from respective injuries. They all have returned training ahead of the important game of the season.
Even though progress has been made, Pochettino has not made up his mind on Harry Kane’s fitness.
“I think Harry Kane is in the last week, Friday and Saturday, start to be involved with the group,” he said. “Very positive the situation with him. We have one week ahead to see how he is progressing.
“It’s so important that he feels well and he’s very positive. We’ll see what happens. I cannot say if he’ll be 100% fit or starting, or on the bench or out.
“But good progression like Winks, Vertonghen and Sanchez in the same final.” said Pochettino.
The Argentine continued: “Some people who like to talk are trying to live the experience and empathise with me about how difficult it will be to pick 11 players, but always it’s painful.
“It will be the Champions League final but we will make sure we take the best decision. We’ve been spending 12 hours a day with our players this week and who better to know who to pick to play?”

Pochettino: “We’ve prepared ourselves to be ready. We know each other very well but we haven’t prepared thinking about the games at Wembley or Anfield. That would be a massive mistake in these different circumstances.”
