There is a certain uproar happening regarding Twitch streamers being assaulted in Paris during the evening. So far two victims have been found who have been streaming on the platform as vlogs for their visit for TwitchCon.

Paris, the capital of France is known for its art, culture, and romantic values. However, in recent events during live streaming, another counter picture is being made at the moment. While the city is one of Europe’s major capitals, events like this are scary.

Since many streamers have a tendency of staging their streams for content, some believe these events in Paris are staged. To give a clear picture of what’s happening, we have formed this detailed article about the occurrences happening with these Twitch streamers.

Is it true Twitch streamers are facing assault in Paris?

According to clips from streamers like Knut and breakJstream, both streamers have faced assaults at different places in Paris. Both of them have shared their stories of what happened to them during their strolls in the evening.

In an Instagram story of breakJstream, the streamer gave a written explanation of what happened when he went out for a walk. When he was crossing a street in Paris, few people started yelling at him and pointed the camera down forcing him to switch to the front camera. Not only did the pedestrians approach with an aggressive tone, but they also punched his shoulder to take his streaming gear.

Feeling helpless, the streamer quickly entered a nearby McDonalds, with the hope that those assaulters would leave. However, these people kept waiting outside which made the manager at the food joint call the police to ensure the streamer’s safe return. Due to these events, breakJstream decided to not stream at that particular place again.

A streamer named Knut also faced a similar assault in Paris, where he allegedly stated that the assaulter was carrying a knife. In his clip, it was seen that the alleged attacker was uncomfortable with him being filmed. However, Knut didn’t film him and kept on accusing that the streamer was indeed filming him.

Sometime later, Knut opened up about the situation that happened to him. He said that the alleged attacker was carrying a knife wrapped in paper. While the situation was heating up, Knut peacefully settled the conversation without an argument.

Netizens’ reaction to these clips

Many users on Reddit have shared their views regarding the situation in Paris as seen through lenses. One of the Redditors commented “Paris after dark is a whole different city not in a good way” after seeing the clip. Many people quickly followed up on the statement with similar views. Many users also left sarcastic remarks on stereotypes acclaimed by people around the world.

Some even advised these streamers to not go out during the night alone and possibly keep their streaming gear in their pocket. However, on the other hand, some Redditors also said that these types of events can happen anywhere on Earth. Additionally, their outburst can be because of the feeling they are being recorded without consent.

A Redditor named Costalorien said the following about unconsented content recording in France:

We have what is called “droit à l’image” which means that any content where someone else is the main content has to be approved by said person.

When someone is recording a crowd, this is completely alright. However, when a single person is used as a subject, it won’t be seen with good eyes. Thus, for this misunderstanding maybe these pedestrians have shown their aggressive side.
