Twitter reactions on Dhoni’s dropped catch: Twitter is full with disappointment after MS Dhoni drops a catch against Pakistan.

During the fifth match of the ongoing Asia Cup between India and Pakistan at Dubai, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni dropped Shoaib Malik, giving the senior-most Pakistani player a reprieve.

It happened on the last delivery of the 16th over when Malik tried to guide a Hardik Pandya delivery towards the third man. With the ball being too close to his body to play such a shot, Malik ended up edging the ball.

The ball had gone to the right of Dhoni, who was failed to keep the ball in his hand as he was diving. It was a very unusual scenario with someone of Dhoni’s standards. Whether if will hurt team India, if it does, in what quantity, only time will tell.

Pandya was introduced as the first change bowler in the 10th over of the Pakistani innings. Had Dhoni held on to that catch, Pakistan would have been reduced to 60-3 in 16 overs.

Malik, who came out to bat in the fifth over after Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Fakhar Zaman, was batting at 26* at that moment. Given his experience, he certainly would be looking to capitalise on this opportunity. In a situation where Pakistan didn’t get off to the best of starts, the onus is undoubtedly on him now.
