Twitter reactions on India's win in Adelaide Test

Twitter reactions on India’s win in Adelaide Test: Twitter was exhilarated on watching India win the first Test of the series.

During the first day of the fifth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, India defeated Australia by 31 runs to go 1-0 up in the four-match series. In which is India’s sixth Test victory on the Australian soil, it will go down as one of the most memorable ones.

Chasing a target of 323 runs to win the match, the hosts were bowled out for 291-10 in 119.5 overs. Resuming Day 5 at 104-4, Australia lost Travis Head in the first hour of the day. While the likes of Shaun Marsh, captain Tim Paine and the lower order tried hard to avoid the loss, they failed to do it as a unit.

It is worth mentioning that the victory for India was a hard-earned one as Australia’s tail started to wag at the wrong time from an Indian perspective.

Marsh, who came in to bat at No. 4, top-scored for his team, scoring 60 (166) with the help of five fours. With bowling figures of ,  was the pick of the Indian bowlers. Other than him,

The match also saw India’s 21-year old wicket-keeper batsman equaling the world record for most catches (11) in a Test match as he grabbed three catches today. Had he not dropped Nathan Lyon off Jasprit Bumrah, Pant would have ended the match with a world record to his name.

India’s victory came as a respite for their fans for seldom do you see India winning the first Test of an overseas tour. Moreover, with what happened on the morning of Day 1, their chances of making a comeback were bleak.

It was top-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara (123 and 71), who top-scored for India in both the innings. Had he not rescued India on the first day, the match would have been over by now.
