Twitter reactions on India's win in Melbourne Test

Twitter reactions on India’s win in Melbourne Test: Twitter was elated after India secured a 137-run win in the Melbourne Test.

During the fifth day of the third Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Melbourne, India defied rain and Australia as they won the Test by 137 runs. Apart from going 2-1 up in the series, India also registered their 150th Test victory.

It took the Indian bowlers 27 balls to clinch two lower-order wickets on a day which saw play getting delayed due to inclement weather conditions. With the weather converting the contest into a handicap match, the Indian team must be relieved to not let their victory getting spoilt by it.

It was India’s new-ball opening pair of Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah who picked up a wicket each on the last day of the match.

The match should have been over by yesterday but it was some strong resilience from the Australian tail which saw it being dragged to Day 5.

Jasprit Bumrah, who picked up nine wickets in the match including a career-best 6-33 in the first innings, was handed the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

Former cricketers and fans lauded the Indian team for securing second victory in the series. The fact that India will now retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy irrespective of what happens in Sydney called for approbation for the team which was evident on social media platform Twitter.
