Twitter reactions on Shubman Gill powering KKR to win

Twitter reactions on Shubman Gill powering KKR to win: Twitter was exhilarated to witness KKR batsman playing a match-winning knock.

During the 52nd match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders at Mohali, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by 7 wickets to press their case for qualifying to the playoffs.

Chasing a 184-run target, Knight Riders prospered on the back of a 62-run opening stand between Shubman Gill and Chris Lynn. While Lynn got out after a quickfire 46 (22) with the help of five fours and three sixes on the last ball of the powerplay, Gill continued to force the ante on the opposition.

Stitching vital partnerships with Robin Uthappa (22) and Andre Russell (24) during the chase, Knight Riders always remained in the match. The manner in which Gill anchored the chase was praiseworthy on the part of the 19-year old right-hand batsman.

In what was his third half-century of the season, Gill ended up scoring 65* (49) with the help of five fours and two sixes. In the presence of captain Dinesh Karthik (21*), KKR chased the total in 18 overs.

After Karthik won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, Punjab ended up scoring 183/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. All-rounder Sam Curran, who came in to bat at No. 6 in the 14th over, top-scored for his team scoring 55* (24) with the help of seven fours and two sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-31-2, Sandeep Warrier was the pick of Knight Riders’ bowlers.
