Twitter reactions on Virat Kohli getting angry as third umpire rules Soumya Sarkar not out during Ind vs Ban World Cup match at Edgbaston

During the 40th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and Bangladesh at Edgbaston, Birmingham Indian skipper Virat Kohli expresses his anger in front of the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus after yet another umpiring decision comes under the scanner.

It all happened during the 12th over of the second innings. Bangladesh were on their course to chase a decent enough score of 314/9 posted by the Indian batting line-up. In the 3rd delivery of the over being bowled by Mohammad Shami, the fast bowler bowled a superb delivery from around the wicket that nipped back into Sarkar.

He couldn’t cover the line of the ball, and was struck at the knee roll of his back leg. Wicket-keeper Pant, Shami, and Kohli at the covers quickly went for the appeal only for the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus to rule him not out.

Kohli who was initially not confident, perhaps with Pant being behind the stumps finally went in for the review at the closing stages of the allotted review time.

Aleem Dar rules Not Out; Kohli fumes

Third Umpire Aleem Dar, used the split screen visuals, along with the Ultra Edge, to confirm whether there was an inside edge off the bat or not. The replays suggested that the ball struck Sarkar’s bat and pad simultaneously. Thus, owing to inconclusive evidence, Dar went with the on-field call (of not out).

Kohli, who was clearly unimpressed with the ruling, was all over Marais Erasmus to express his disappointment and anger. But, after a few more seconds of verbal disagreement, Kohli ultimately had to back away.

The Indian skipper was previously fined 25% of his match fees during the match against Afghanistan on grounds of excessive appealing.

At the time of writing, the Bangladeshi batsman were well on track to chase the total down. After 22 overs they had already posted 116/2  with in-form Shakib al Hasan (39* off 46) and Mushfiqur Rahim (24* off 22) still at the crease.
