Twitter reacts as Man Utd appoints Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: The former Manchester United star will be joined by Mike Phelan at United.

Manchester United announced the signing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the caretaker manager of the club until the end of the season. He will be joined by Mike Phelan as first-team coach, along with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna.

The club released an official statement following the appointment of Solskjaer.

“Manchester United announced today that former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the 2018/19 season,” the statement read.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for the club in his 10 years at Old Trafford, and is fondly remembered for his winning goal in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999.

“Solskjær will take charge of the first team with immediate effect and will remain in place while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new full-time manager.


“He will be joined by Mike Phelan as first-team coach, working alongside Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna.”
