Watch the video of Casemiro diving against Levante to win a penalty for Real Madrid.
Following Barcelona’s comprehensive victory over Sevilla, Real Madrid responded by edging Levante in a game which was filled with full of controversies. The Los Blancos did not look tranquil in their defensive and offensive part of the game as Santiago Solari’s men struggled to match their regular standards.
During the first half, there was a usage of hand, but the referee decided to wave on. After using the Video Assistant Referee(VAR), the officiate resolved by overturning the decision in the right way. Karim Benzema took the spot-kick and converted it with full calmness.
Levante were denied a clear cut penalty after Carvajal committed a foul inside the box. The referee decided against using the VAR for this incident which infuriated the whole stadium.
Antonio Luna was giving nightmares to Daniel Carvajal by running through the left flank. The wing-back took full advantage by crossing the ball to Roger Marti who found the back of the net despite facing immense pressure of Raphael Varane to equalize the score in the second half.
The referee awarded a penalty when Casemiro felt a very minimal challenge from Cheick Doukoure while defending the set piece. Even though the referee went upstairs to use the newly installed technology, the contact was deemed enough to award a penalty.
Gareth Bale, who came on as a substitute took the penalty to bag all three points for Real Madrid. Before the full-time whistle, Nacho Fernandez was shown marching orders after picking up the second yellow card in the 88th minute.

VAR upholding absolutely laughable decisions for Real Madrid and then Fiorentina in the space of 20mins tonight. The system in its current form is not fit for purpose.

You look at the replays, you see this and instead of giving Casemiro a yellow for diving (would miss El Clasico) and a free kick to Levante you award Real Madrid the penalty after that dive? I’m done…pic.twitter.com/P5D4VV1Cap

Real Madrid actually managed to utterly corrupt and use VAR for robbery. You have to admire that in a very twisted way.
