Twitter reacts as Hitman scores his third double century in ODIs

Attaboy! Take a bow! Like a hot knife through butter, The modern-great Rohit Sharma essayed a flamboyant third double century in ODIs, a second double-delight against Sri Lanka.

When the ‘hitman’ gets going, it’s an absolute treat to watch him bat. He was desperate to make sweet memories and he did it quite exquisitely.

Rohit Sharma might have flopped in his first match as an Indian captain, but he upped his ante in the second ODI in PCA Stadium, Mohali to create a sensation.

Rohit’s phenomenal 153-ball 208 runs included a flurry of 13 fours and a barrage of 12 towering sixes. We are obviously running short of adjectives, superlatives to describe him.

He became the first player to score a double century as a captain and as a non-captain. What really adds to his strength is his ability to make a meteoric rise after getting past the 100-run mark. He took just 36 balls to complete the next century.

He also became the second Indian skipper after Virender Sehwag’s 219 against Windies to score a double century against his favourite Sri Lanka that reads 208*.

No one has even scored two double centuries but Rohit Sharma has got three in his illustrious career. His impressive score helped India to garner 392/4 in the quota of overs.
