Twitter sad over Yuvraj Singh going unsold

Twitter sad over Yuvraj Singh going unsold: Twitter was shocked to see veteran Indian all-rounder remaining unsold.

During the ongoing IPL auction for the 12th season of the IPL (Indian Premier League) at Jaipur, veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh remained unsold in the first round. While there were reports of IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings bidding for Yuvraj, it wasn’t the case.

It is worth mentioning that all is not over for Yuvraj at the moment because an unsold player can be brought back into the auction during the later rounds of the process.

Likewise, Universe Boss Chris Gayle’s services were required by Kings XI Punjab in the third round of the IPL auction last year.

Yuvraj, who was India’s first T20I hero and played a significant role in the ICC World Twenty20 2007 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, not finding a franchise to play for in the IPL comes as a disheartening news for not just his plethora of fans but also the nation who has seen him at the top of his game for nearly a decade.

Yuvraj is currently playing for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy. After been given a homecoming in the last season by Kings XI Punjab, Yuvraj was released last month after his lacklustre performance.

In the eight matches which Yuvraj played for the Kings XI last season, he scored 65 runs at an average of 10.83 and a strike rate of 89.04. Such paltry numbers had it in them for his franchise to release him and that is what eventually happened.

There is no hiding to the fact that Yuvraj never really got going in the cash-rich tournament. In 128 IPL matches, the southpaw scored 2,652 runs at an average of 24.78 and a strike rate of 129.68. A mere 12 half-centuries in 10 years of the IPL doesn’t serve his potential.

The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
