Twitter slams KL Rahul for another failure in Test cricket after he gets out cheaply vs West Indies

Twitter slams KL Rahul: Twitter was furious with the Indian opening batsman after he registered another failure in Test matches.

During the third day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of West Indies in Jamaica, India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul failed to register a big score in a near pressure-less situation. Another failure has added increased Rahul’s lean patch in Test cricket to another innings.

Led by fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s maiden Test hat-trick, the Indian bowlers bundled out the hosts for 117 in 47.1 overs. It was at this time that the visitors decided to bat again despite a 299-run first-innings lead.

Opening the batting with Mayank Agarwal (4), Rahul never really got going in the second innings. With the West Indian bowlers bowing testing line and lengths, the 27-year old batsman’s patience was brought to an end by Kemar Roach in the 21st over.

In an innings where Rahul couldn’t even manage to rotate the strike, he ended up scoring 6 (63) with the help of a lone boundary. Given India’s lead, Rahul had a golden opportunity to post a big total and justify his position in the Indian Test team.

In the two Tests that Rahul has played in this series, he has scored 101 runs at an average of 25.25 and a strike rate of 37.26. Rahul’s never-ending woes in Tests had started from Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017.

In 17 Tests since November 2017, Rahul has scored 664 runs at an average of 22.89 and a strike rate of 54.92 including one century and two half-centuries. It was due to his unsuccessful spree that him getting named for this series was questionable.
