Points Table of ICC World Test Championship: The Indian team has retained its top spot after 257-run victory against West Indies.
During the fourth day of the second Test of the recently concluded India’s tour of West Indies in Jamaica, India beat West Indies by 257 runs to whitewash the two-match series. The result also meant that the visitors successfully retained their unbeaten spree on the tour.
The Indian victory further came as a significant milestone in the career of captain Virat Kohli. With 28 Test victories to his name, Kohli has now become the most successful Indian captain in Test matches. Kohli surpassed former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (27) to achieve the landmark.

Having won both the Test matches, India have also become the first team to cross the 100-point barrier in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. With 120 points to their name, India are currently at the top of the table.
There was confusion among fans regarding the criteria in which teams were awarded points. While India have received 60 points each for a victory, Australia and England are receiving 24 points for a victory in the ongoing 2019 Ashes series.
It is worth mentioning that the World Test Championship will see teams earning points with respect to the number of Tests in a series. Each Test series will give a team a chance of accumulating a maximum of 120 points.
With 60 points in two matches each, New Zealand and Sri Lanka follow India in the points table. Among the other teams which have opened their tally are Australia and England – both of whom have won 32 points each.
