The first-ever UFC double division champion, Conor McGregor, is a once-in-a-lifetime star in the UFC and is constantly driven for success. After dominating the MMA world, the Irishman set his sights on topping the list of the world’s wealthiest athletes. In 2021, he achieved that feat by becoming the highest earner of the year. Building on that success, he secured a place among the 50 richest athletes of all time, but he desired more. In a UFC interview, back in May, Conor McGregor boldly vowed to surpass the $330 million net worth of Michael Jordan, who leads that illustrious list. Several months later, the Irishman took to Instagram to provide a significant update on his net worth.

According to Sportico’s list of the highest-paid athletes of all time, Jordan claims the top spot, while McGregor occupies the 33rd position. Jordan, who retired in the early 2000s, has amassed earnings exceeding $3 billion, whereas McGregor, now in the twilight of his career, has earned around $615 million.
Conor McGregor asserts billionaire status in his quest to dethrone Michael Jordan
The former UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, has been out of action in the octagon for a couple of years. However, ‘The Notorious‘ is gearing up for a return and maintains an active presence on social media.
In a recent Instagram post, he boldly declared himself a billionaire. He wrote:
“I am a blackbelt in Jiu jitsu. A double ufc and cage warriors world champion. A billionaire. A dad. A husband to be. The Notorious“

Despite his claims, online resources suggest McGregor’s net worth to be approximately $200 million. It is also not clear on what grounds he called himself a billionaire.
Nonetheless, achieving this milestone doesn’t appear too far off for the Irishman, especially considering his ownership of multiple businesses such as Forged Irish Stout and Proper Twelve, along with an imminent return to the octagon.
McGregor: The Irish earning powerhouse
Conor McGregor holds the title of UFC’s cash cow, and his bouts have raked in millions in purse earnings. According to Sportico, the Irishman pocketed approximately $5 million from his showdown with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
‘The Notorious’ is poised to continue his lucrative run upon his anticipated return to the prestigious UFC octagon. Given his immense star power, he is also exploring opportunities in exhibition boxing matches.
His previous bout against Floyd Mayweather fetched him a staggering $100 million, and he remains receptive to additional opportunities in the boxing world.
Furthermore, he has found success beyond the octagon through various business ventures, including Tidl, McGregor Fast, Maclife, Proper Twelve, and Forged Irish Stout. Evidently, McGregor and Co. made over $600 million from Proper Twelve sales in 2021.
These factors have the potential to propel his net worth. Thus, it positions Conor McGregor to potentially top the list someday.
