‘I kind of started to feel like Tony Ferguson a little bit’: Aljamain Sterling On Postponement Of His Fight Against Petr Yan
Aljamain Sterling conveys, he is gutted after his fight against Petr Yan fell through just three weeks before the arrival of the scheduled date- December 12, 2020.
Aljamain Sterling, who after weeks of campaigning finally attained the No.1 contender’s spot for the Bantamweight title, is currently consuming a setback.
The Funk Master was gearing up to fight Petr Yan at UFC 256, but just 3 and half weeks before the ultimate date his match got scrapped owing the Petr Yan’s Visa issues.
Reflecting on Yan’s withdrawal, Sterling expressed his views in a chat with ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Where he cut out a seemingly disappointed figure and compared his state with Tony Ferguson’s and said his fight with Petr Yan apparently has the same fate as Tony Vs. Khabib.

Aljamain Sterling On Postponement Of His Bout Against Petr Yan
Although, after the news broke-out (Sunday) he instantly used Social Media to give an initial reaction, but now shared a piece of his mind in detail.
“I woke up with my phone it was blown up and I didn’t know what was going on. I was like I’m reading everything and I’m like this gotta be fake news. It’s definitely fake news. I call my manager find out there was definitely some hold up going on and we’re trying to see if things work out but they ended up not.”
Aljamain continued and said that his training was going well and now will have to start for scratch. He feels that the fortune is not in his favor and ended up comparing his plight with the infamous Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov saga.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment. I was starting to peak at a really good time, three weeks out and we hit a roadblock again. It feels like everything something’s meant to be for me It kind of gets pulled back.
“I kind of started to feel like Tony Ferguson a little bit. The Ferguson, Khabib fight not happening, it kind of feels like that. I just hope eventually it comes to fruition and we need this for the division soon and I think it will, I just don’t want to get to that point where it’s like we are right there, something happens, we’re right there something happens…..
UFC Plans To Reschedule The Fight
On being asked whether he was told any reschedule plans by UFC. To which he said “February, March, I would imagine one of those Pay-Per-View cards, but they didn’t know which one is going to be. “
