McGregor looked good in the first round. Poirier spent much of the first round looking to tie the former double champ. However, at no point did he seemed threatening enough to actually win it. The second round too seemed to be going McGregor’s way until Poirier suddenly caught the Notorious in a barrage of punches that sent him to the canvas.
The Diamond continued his assault before the referee finally got in and called the match off in his favour. That was it, in just two rounds, Poirier had ruined on McGregor’s return. He won the return tie, setting up 2021 for him and a potential trilogy in the future too.
