“I paid $10,000 to get into the arena with my family to support Khabib…I was trying to go up to talk to him and they kept pushing me. But, he kept telling them. This is my captain. Let him through. So when I finally got close enough to him, I told him, “Hey, what in the world is going on? What are you doing? You have got to calm down.”
Cormier also said that Dana White and the UFC granted him a full ticket refund after speaking with Nurmagomedov and settling things down. Dana White and the UFC made an effort to thank DC for his assistance during the ordeal.
The rivalry between Nurmagomedov and McGregor
The rivalry between McGregor and Nurmagomedov was one of the biggest in the history of combat sports. It was so intense that even their teams got involved. McGregor, in particular, left no stone unturned to mentally distract the Russian fighter.
‘The Notorious’ even brought Nurmagomedov’s family into the trash talk in the lead-up to the fight. However, he was unable to defeat Nurmagomedov inside the cage. The fight ended up being one of the most successful pay-per-view events in UFC history.
Even after four years of fighting, the rivalry is still alive and well. McGregor frequently mocks ‘The Eagle’ on social media, despite the fact that the latter has retired from competition. Unfortunately, fans may never see a rematch between them.
