Petr Yan Vs. Aljamain Sterling: Much-Anticipated Encounter

Petr Yan became the undisputed king of the 135-pound weight class at UFC 251 (July 2020), and ever since then, no one other than Aljamain Sterling appeared as the favorite to contest against him. While it seemed a no brainer for UFC to ultimately match these two individuals, yet it took some time for the authorities to zero-in on the Funk Master.

In sequence, UFC 256 became the event to reside in this fight. The match though was scrapped in the run-up on account of Yan’s withdrawal, however, the UFC did not sleep on the fight for long and now March 6 is the new assigned date.

On papers, the match-up looks evenly contested as both have an impressive MMA record, and both are specialists of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, they have contrasting fight styles but on the day when the title will be on the line, the approach will apparently be similar. So, at UFC 259 nothing may separate the two and this match may turn out to be a close encounter.
