'You lost your last fight and then quit the sport': Jon Jones Hits Back At Daniel Cormier

Jon Jones takes a dig at Daniel Cormier, who earlier expressed his opinion on why he does not think that Jon Jones is the Greatest of all time (GOAT).

In a span of 12 years Jon Jones arguably became the greatest MMA professional ever, however, on the flip side a number of drug violations have always undermined his otherwise flawless record. So, while he is always vocal about what he has achieved in the sport, his naysayers often points out his carelessness over using banned substances, which in the past has gotten him in trouble with USADA.

Though, someone or the other keeps reminding him about the frowned upon act, that he is subjected with, recently, his biggest in-ring foe Daniel Cormier brought Jones’ history with failed drug tests, whilst paying heed to the GOAT debate.

Ever since Khabib Nurmagomedov replaced him at the podium of Pound-For-Pound rankings, Jones has been actively advocating his name for the GOAT status. And Although, the UFC president Dana White has reiterated a number of times that he sees Jon Jones as the greatest of all time, many other experts and fighters do not think the same, and DC is apparently one of them.

Talking to MMA Fighting, Cormier laid out why Jones isn’t the GOAT for him. He said, Jon is “One of the most talented guys you’ll ever meet but again for me bad [drug] tests eliminate you from the conversation.”

Considering the two were a part of one of the nastiest conflicts of all time in UFC, their animosity for each other might never dose off. Thus in the wake of this statement, Jones did not ignored the aforementioned comment made by DC, and took to Twitter in the quest to give him a befitting reply.

Bones wrote, “DC you lost your last fight and then quit the sport. Talk about being eliminated from the conversation.”

Before taking a shot at Cormier, Jones also threw light on USADA’s work, and seemingly criticised the body for its stern principle. Moreover, hinted that his record is a major subject of insecurity for some.

“With USADA you are guilty until proven innocent unless you are the goat. When you’ve been winning this damn long, you remain guilty, it helps people sleep at night.”

“I was proven innocent”

After highlighting his thoughts about USADA, Jones indicated that, the accusations on him does not present the complete picture, and the fact that he was never proven guilty for consuming performance enhancers, waves off all the claims made against him.

“People will remember I was accused of steroids, they will also remember that I was proven innocent and able to continue with my career.”
